June 7, 2008
We woke up early this morning and went to the market in Verona and then Sara, Joana, Jenn, and I went to Milano and when we got there we were very hungry and we stopped at a café and I had a prosciutto, cheese, lettuce, and tomato panino with a sprite. Then I had a gelato which was café and chocolate in a cone!

Sara and I woke up to go to church at 11am and then we went out for breakfast at the café and I had a brioche vuota and latte macchiato. Then I really didn’t have much to eat for the rest of the day. Then Joana and I, Sunday night went to a discoteca near Lake Garda and there was a buffet of snack foods and fruit. So I had a coca-cola with a “chex mix” snack, with chips, popcorn, and then a cup of cantaloupe!

For breakfast I had a brioche and some water. Then I went to Italian class with the girls and I had a pizzetta for lunch which was very good! Then I had a snack, which I got a brioche with chocolate! It was delicious!! And then Sara and I went to dinner and we had bread/breadsticks and I had Spaghetti with tomato sauce! That was also delicious! When I got to the apartment, I had a toast biscotti with NUTELLA!! My favorite!

Again, I woke up late and didn’t have breakfast, nor did I have lunch. Sara and I walked around in the piazza and I got NUTELLA gelato!! Then I came back to my apartment with my roommates also with Nick! And he cooked us dinner!! We had pizza made of toasted bread, Basilico tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, sautéed mushrooms, peppers, and with bacon bits/ground meat. Then we had fetuccine with the same basilica sauce with the rest of the ground meat.

Then Nick, Joana, and I went for a walk to get coffee and such. We ended up at Bar Bra, and I got Tiramisu and latte macchiato. Which both were delicious!! Then Nick cooked dinner for us again! And we had a tortellini, salami, and pepper mix with a creamy sauce.

When I arrived here in Verona, I didn’t eat a lot except for at dinner. Sara, Joana, Rachel, and I ate dinner at Rala’s apartment. We had gnocchi with tomato sauce, meatballs, and green beans. For dessert we had a pie type thing that was made of corn meal and had almonds in it , called sbrisolina.

I woke up late this morning and didn’t really have a breakfast or lunch. So I skipped right along to dinner, which in fact was the cooking class! Words can’t even describe how delicious this food was. And in fact, I actually ate food that I would have never eaten at home! We had a 3 course meal, which consisted of pomodori farciti con salsa al pesto, tagliatelle al Ragout di carni bianche, Scaloppine ai funghi, and for dessert we had Panna Cotta ai Frutti di Bosco. We stuffed the tomatoes with a combination of zucchini, eggplant, peppers . Also with added seasonings of parsley, garlic, oil and salt. The next dish consisted of spaghetti, which we made by hand, from scratch, and chicken, turkey, carrots, onions, celery, white wine, olive oil, butter, parmesan cheese, sage leaves, milk, flour, and lemon peels. The final part of the meal was made of mushrooms, veal, fresh thyme, parsley, and oil and starch. Last but not least the dessert, which was made of fresh cream, sugar, vanilla, lemon peels, gelatin strips, and strawberry sauce. When I thought I had enough, Sara, Victoria, and I went downtown to a café, while they got wine, I ordered gelato, it was a vanilla truffle.
